Golfing Buddies Win $10,000 Powerball Prize
Dover, DE --Eleven golfing
buddies who are members of the Sakima Country Club in
Carney's Point, N.J., are going to have a little more
money for lunch on the 19th hole after scoring a $10,000
Powerball win. The winning numbers were drawn on March
17, St. Patrick's Day.
The group mostly hails from New Jersey and Maryland, but
it was their lone Delawarean who bought the lucky
ticket.
Robert Meeks, 67, of Newark has been buying tickets for
the group for a little over two years. He said they have
won a few smaller prizes in the past, which they decided
to just reinvest in tickets. But this time, they decided
to cash in.
"I told them we needed to touch a little green on this
one," Meeks said. "We're all going to get together and
have a little celebration."
.
Split 11 ways, the men won more than $680 each after
taxes. Meeks knows that total isn't life-altering, but
he said the two newest members of his group are known
for being lucky and he thinks another win isn't out of
the question.
"We have two new guys who are both lucky," he said. "I'm
sure word will travel fast around the club and more
members would want to get in," he said. "We'd love to
have more people in it."
The ticket was purchased at Books & News on Chestnut
Hill Road in Newark.

WANTED: Expiring $200,000 Powerball Winning Ticket While One Prize Awaits a Winner, a Camden Woman
Scores
Multi-Win Lottery Jackpot
Dover, DE -- A $200,000
Powerball prize drawn last April is set to expire on
Wednesday. On April 5, 2006, a ticket bought at Faber
Newsstand in the Wilmington Train Station matched five
numbers, but not the all-important Powerball. That
winning ticket still hasn't been claimed.
The man, who has chosen to remain anonymous, is now
working as a liquor store manager in Rehoboth Beach and
was absolutely shocked that he was able to match four
numbers and the Powerball.
The ticket was purchased on the evening of Monday, April
3, 2006 as part of a $5 Quick Pick. Thousands of
commuters and travelers pass through the train station
each day, so the winner could conceivably be from
anywhere on the East Coast.
"We really hope the winner comes forward," said Wayne
Lemons, director of the Delaware State Lottery.
"$200,000 can change a person's life. So, I encourage
everyone who has passed through the train station to
check their coat pockets and brief cases. They could be
a little bit richer tomorrow."
Should the prize go unclaimed, the money will go into
the State's General Fund.
In other news, a 70-year-old Camden woman has come
forward as the winner of more than $133,000 from March
19's Multi-Win Lotto drawing.
The grandmother of four, who has chosen to remain
anonymous, bought the winner when she purchased five
tickets at Camden Super Spirits. The woman has won
smaller prizes in the past but nothing more than $5,000.
She added that she doesn't have big plans for the money
as she will probably just pay some bills and save the
rest. "This is just going to make things a little more
comfortable," she joked
She discovered her win by calling the Delaware Lottery
hotline. To check your potentially winning number, call
